One of last weeks most popular library books in our house was Clifford The Firehouse Dog. It reminded us to make a family fire escape plan for our new rental house and had us all practicing Stop, Drop and Roll. When we saw that actual firefighters would be at the Children’s Museum and Theater of Maine today we were all excited to check it out.
Two super friendly firefighters from Portland gave us a tour of the firetruck, explaining what all of their equipment was for and even letting the kids ring the bell. After climbing inside the truck and asking the firemen some questions we headed into the museum to their 25-foot fire truck exhibit. The younger Fives donned jackets, boots and fire helmets as they practiced driving the truck and slidding down the fire pole. It was a great field trip to reinforce our fire safety lessons.
Does your family have a fire escape plan that you practice?
