While waiting out Hurrcane Sandy with relatives in Connecticut, we prepared the younger Fives for the reality that spending our Halloween in New York City as planned would no longer be possible or appropriate. We were fortunate, though, to be able to follow through with a backup plan to spend Halloween in the perfect spot for a princess, knight, and dragon: Kids Castle in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.
In addition to the normal excitement of exploring the castle’s numerous passageways and zooming down the giant slide, the kids enjoyed some Halloween quests for hidden cookies and candy. The cooler weather limited how long we could spend at the castle before hands and cheeks started to freeze, but we felt like we had gotten our fill of fun. In the end, we felt extremely fortunate to be able to celebrate Halloween as a family while so many on the East Coast were not able to do so.
