Train Odyssey Day 8: Snow Covered Castle

Our one-day stopover in Brasov, Romania was the perfect base for exploring the famous (and undeservedly infamous) Bran Castle, nicknamed Dracula’s Castle. It was fascinating to get a glimpse of what life inside a fortified palace would have been like, and the Castle does a great job of recreating the history of the Romanian royalty who once lived there. And given the very tenuous connection of the historical Vlad Tepes to Bran (he may have slept here for a night or two in passing), the few rooms of vampire history didn’t distract too much from the larger magnificence of this wonderful place.
